del.icio.us whuffie

Delicious Whuffie is a bookmarklet that, when clicked, adds via:username to the tags field when saving a URL from another user.

This bookmarklet is intended to be used on the “save this” page at del.icio.us. I have also created (and prefer) a version of the bookmarklet that adds the user’s tags along with via:username; as I seem to always do that as well when tagging with via:

Install the Bookmarklet

Drag one of the links below into the browser’s bookmarks toolbar. Then click it when saving a URL from another person.

delicious whuffie

delicious whuffie (also adds tags)

NOTE: Depending on how your browser (probably IE) is configured, you may not be able to drag a bookmarklet link to your bookmarks toolbar. In that case, right click on the one of the links and select “Add to Favorites” from the context menu.

Todo: Make This A Userscript

I originally had tried to create a userscript to do this.

Unfortunately, because del.icio.us’ “save this” page loads asynchronously, I’m not able to get the right HTML content of tags or attach events to the tags field. This is because GreaseMonkey executes my script before del.icio.us has finished loading. I intend to work this out in the future. But for now, the bookmarlet ^.^
